Bloggers & Boyfriends

I know I may be a little late to party with boyfriend jeans but in the past I’ve always felt they didn’t have a place in my classic (sometimes conservative) wardrobe. But oh how that has changed. Not to put too fine a point on it but I’m going to chuck it out there now that Spring 14 is going to be the season to take the plunge.

So embarking on a new – although I’m not sure you could really call boyfriend jeans new – trend means checking out how others are styling it. Spending a lot of time trawling the internet for fashion inspiration and following my favourite bloggers is definitely one my favourite things when it comes to creating content for My Pollyanna, so without question I knew I’d find some great ways to style the boyfriend jean. And it’s fair to say they didn’t let me down.

The Online Stylist blogged recently about the new Baukjen collection which includes this fab pair – reckon this will be my first stop.

I used to think that boyfriend jeans didn’t work with the rest of my wardrobe but I’m a recent convert. I’ve seen them styled most often with court heels, converse or ballets which all look amazing, but rarely with a pair of ankle boots. Is this because it’s a no-no? Can you pair those two items together, and if so how? Roll up, or not? Socks or not? I want to get wear out of them in the winter/early spring/late autumn when it’s too cold to get bare feet out :)

Hi Lisa, I have been through exactly the same dilemma. But decided yes. Yes you can do it. Roll them up but no socks. It may be a little chilly but if you wear them make sure you can’t see them! Here, Amanda the Online Stylist is sporting them just perfectly…http://www.theonlinestylist.co.uk/2014/02/lucky-seven.html
Let me know how you get on! L x

All credit to Thankfifi for my Gap recommendation, I got my first pair of Gap boyfriend jeans after seeing them on Wendy’s blog last year :) x

I got mine from The White Company & I’m really pleased with them. They’ve got a fairl high waist (so hold everything in!) and are on a straighter cut which I feel suits me… double the cost of Gap, but I know that come spring/summer I will be living in them, so they’re worth every penny!

I was like you thinking that they wouldn’t fit into my wardrobe, but I found my perfect pair in Zara, I didn’t suit the ones that were too baggy. There is a pair out there for you, good luck with your search. x

Thanks Ann Marie. I’m not sure the baggy ones will suit me either which I think may be the reason I haven’t ventured into the trend yet. It’s going to need some research I think but thanks for the tip-off! x

I bought a lovely pair from The White Company as they are a great cut and not too baggy! I’ve yet to wear them though so I look forward to ideas on how to style them…x

Oh thanks Louise. Amazing tips! I’m going to the Red Mag Gap event next week so perfect opportunity to have a look. I think I’ll go for a slim (but not skinny) style to ‘break myself in’! Can’t wait… X

Hi! I find one of the best places is Gap. I have a pair of their Boyfriend jeans but also the real straight which are a nice ‘transitional’ pair to take you into the trend, not too baggy but definitely not skinny. Also Mango not bad either. Hope you find a pair (or three) you like and look forward to seeing a blog post featuring them! :) x
