The Perfect ‘Going Out’ Top – for £20.

It is a certain somebody’s (mine – just in case you hadn’t guessed!) birthday this weekend and I am going OUT! Yes, really OUT. Friends, dinner, cocktails…I haven’t been out for a while so I am super excited. With the planning taken care of, the inevitable question of “What will I wear???” soon rears it’s ugly head.

As I stare at my ‘going out’ clothes hoping something will just spring into my arms, I realise I am rather lacking in this department (I can sense JT shaking his head in despair as I write this!). I have some great staples – jeans and shoes. But I needed a top.

Cue the peplum top from F&F at Tesco.

After the success of the orange dress, I ordered this top online from F&F. When it arrived I was yet again astounded by the quality and fit. This is my first trip down the peplum top route, but I think I have been missing out. Love it. So flattering and I love the leather trim detail bringing a little bit of AW13. The best bit – it was £20.

I’ve teamed it with my favourite Paige Denim ripped jeans, Jimmy Choo heels and Anya Hindmarch clutch.

It’s perfect for dinner with friends, parties or a special date. You can buy this top online. It is also available in dark red and also in camel.

What will you be wearing on your next night out?

Ooh what a lovely top & such a fab price tag! I may have to pay an online visit to F&F. You look gorgeous & I hope you had lots of birthday fun wearing it!

That top looks lovely on you and you’d never know it was Tesco! Love that you’ve paired it with the deconstructed jeans instead of a pencil skirt or similar.

Thanks Lisa. I LOVE those jeans. I’ve had them for years and they come out time after time – school run…dinner out…weekends. Great investment. The top is great too – well worth a look! I’ve given up spending alot of money on things I won’t wear very often so this is perfect. I’d rather put my money into something I’m going to get really good use out of. Combining that with cheaper items works perfectly for me.

Oh I love this! The leather detail is fantastic. I have quite a few going-out dresses but my wardrobe is really lacking in nice tops. I think I’ll be ordering this beauty today. I wonder if I can use our clubcard points…

P.S. I have to admit I used to be very snobby and look down on clothes from tesco but, a lost luggage fiasco while on a weekend away led to me buying a few things from there and I was very pleasantly surprised.

Hi Maria, I was genuinely so so pleased with the top – you never quite know how it’s going to be when you order something online. I have always been a bit snobby about supermarket fashion too but I think if you are careful about what you choose and pair it with the right things you’d never know!
