Olympic Links

Despite some of the negative press about the Winter Olympics, I’m really looking forward to watching it. My own participation in Winter sports only stretches as far as a gentle jaunt on a ski slope (last time I skied I managed to avoid falling over which was a lot more to do with my lack of speed and gusto than skill!).

They’re fun to watch and the scenery will be stunning I’m sure, so I’ve put together some Olympic themed links to get you in the mood.

When I saw these colourful Olympic cocktails on Cupcakes & Cashmere this week I knew they were much more my kind of sport. Find the recipe on Cupcakes & Cashmere blog here.

A good friend of mine writes a great sport blog, LU Loves Sport (you can also follow her on Twitter here) based on her own sporting experiences. She has captured some of her thoughts on Sochi and who she thinks is in with a chance of a medal. Have a read to get the low down on whether us Brits are ready for the Olympic games.

One name we’re sure to hear a bit more of is a local guy from Southampton called Billy Morgan. This is where I get all “down with kids” – he’s a snowboarder who  landed the world’s first triple rodeo flip. Sounds impressive doesn’t it?!? He’s making his Olympic debut at Sochi so watch out for this name.

Will you be watching the Olympics or sitting back with a cocktail?

I’ll definitely be watching the Winter Olympics, I find it a lot more interesting than normal Olympics (too much track sports, and that’s coming from someone who runs!!).
