Polly’s Picks: Beauty Saviours

Beauty picks…

I’m the first to admit that I’m pretty useless when it comes to beauty. A little bit of lazy with a little bit of ‘I don’t really know what I’m doing’, chuck in a bit of not really having much time in the mornings and you can see why I follow a less is more philosophy!

There are a few things however that over the years I have come to treasure. I feel safe with them, know what I’m doing and they work for me so why change them?

St. Tropez Bronzing Lotion

St Tropez bronzing lotion

St. Tropez have extended their product range quite a lot recently but I still stick with the original. I find it moisturising and the colour works really well for me. A little bit every night on my face and neck that I wash off in the morning can just make the difference between healthy and pasty.

Aveda ‘Beautifying’ Essential Oil

Aveda Beautifying oil

An Aveda beauty therapist gave me this tip a few years ago. I use it as eye make-up remover on a little bit of damp cotton wool. Any mascara, waterproof or otherwise, comes off immediately and leaves the skin around my eyes really soft. One bottle lasts almost six months.

YSL Volume Effect False-Lash Mascara

YSL mascara

I have fairly long eyelashes but they are incredibly fine so a good mascara is essential for me. But because they’re fine I also need one that won’t be too heavy. This YSL one is amazing. It was actually an accidental purchase – made by my husband at an airport – but I wouldn’t go back to anything else now. It actually does what it claims to do – adds volume and is a dark, rich colour.

Great recommendations. My beauty saviors are:
Weleda Wild Rose facial oil capsules
Kerastase Elixir Hair oil (or any Kerastase hair products ;-)
    Liz Earle’s Cleansing cream and
MAC’s Eyelash Primer (but having read about your YSL mascara I’m going to give it a go and then maybe I can ditch the primer).
    Great post

My essential – Bobbi Brown Extra SPF Moisturising Balm.
In shades, light to medium, medium and medium to dark depending on the face tan! A fantastic moisturiser with just enough cover.
