My Pollyanna new hair

There’s something really exhilarating about make big changes and taking risks. Thinking about what can be gained by the venture and not about the loss of what you had. A little deep perhaps when referring to a hair cut but often a big image change can reflect how you’re feeling.

Last week I took a leap and risk by updating the blog. By no coincidence, in the same week I changed my hair. I’ve been talking about it for months and finally I had the courage to just do it. I knew it was a risk and that I could majorly regret it but there was also the chance that I’d love it.

Turns out I’m quite pleased with it really. Feels like a fresh new update and after all, it’ll grow back!

Are you thinking about updating your hair?

My Pollyanna Love Letters

I swore I wouldn’t feature a Valentines themed post, it’s just not my thing. But old fashioned traditions are.

Being cocooned in the digital world of social media for most of my waking hours, it’s a welcome escape to retreat an old fashioned note book and pen every now and then. It’s so easy to ping an email or send a text but to receive a handwritten note from a loved one is something to be treasured.

When I found these beautiful notes and stickers from Anthropologie I couldn’t resist a getting soppy for a moment.

There definitely seems to be a sense of change in the air, especially as this week has been a pretty big one for me.

Kicking off with a big family party that involved seeing cousins and extended family that I don’t really see from year to the next to celebrate my (not so) little brother turning 30.

Uncle Tom

Then with the new blog, new hair and what feels like a whole new lease of energy it definitely feels like a change is happening.

It’s an exciting time of the year as the first signs of Spring start to emerge and gradually it feels like the days aren’t quite so short anymore.

My inbox has been clogged with new season collections this week  too – I’m so looking forward to frolicking in new season craziness really soon. But for now, here is to a restful weekend.

My Pollyanna

Hooray, it’s the new year! Back to blogging, back to routine and back to normality. Christmas was great; bustling, busy and full of celebration and excesses of all kinds. But I love that feeling of a fresh start and seeing the whole year ahead of you like an unwritten book to be filled with adventures, emotions, new opportunities and possibilities. No one knows what’s coming and I like that feeling of the unknown.

Putting my best (leopard print of course) foot forward into 2014…

It feels so refreshing to wipe the slate clean. To close the door on the previous year and look forward. I’m excited, excited for the new and the unknown. I’ve never been one for resolutions. Those ones that are usually made up of unrealistic promises, too easily forgotten and too easily broken.

Instead I’ve opted for positive affirmations…

Do more of what you Love.

Make it Happen.

Happy Monday & Happy 2014!

Giggling into my cafe-au-lait with my oldest friend, we indulge in reminiscence. Barely stopping for breath as we laugh out so loud at childhood antics, the hours pass unnoticed. Between people watching and re-living our shared memories our morning is complete, for one thing. Shopping. We head to Chanel before lunch back on the balcony at the apartment overlooking the Seine.

I love the classic and oh-so chic elegance of Parisian style. Timeless fashion that sets the Parisian’s apart from others.

Unadulterated sunshine, miles of fine white sand and crystal clear waters. Bikinis and denim cuts-offs are the only essentials needed here. I lie in until 9am everyday, throw on my white linen dress and walk barefoot from my beach side condo through the gate and onto the beach. This life is dreamy. Calm, quiet, white and pure. Here, no harm can come to anyone. A free and easy place where time slows down.

This is my Friday Fantasy.

Friday Fantasy

I thrive under pressure. Give me more to do and I’ll do it – sooner than if I had nothing to do usually. But somedays it would be lovely to wake up with no pressure. No dishwasher to unload, no mobile phone and (dare I say it) no Twitter. A day where there was nothing to do apart from swan around your palatial beach side residence and sun bathe on the terrace.

Strutting through the streets of New York City in a tailored suit and sky-high heels, my structured bag firmly in my grip. Shoulder barging the men in their pinstriped ensembles. I make eye contact with nobody. Arriving at my marble floored office, I breeze past the receptionist and hit for the lift. My double espresso is waiting for me at my desk along with my ultra efficient, doe-eyed PA. I’m smart, structured and strong and so is my style.

This is my Friday Fantasy – day dreaming of a life far, far removed from reality. Power dressing and laying down the law with my massive ego.
