The Chosen Boyfriend

So…the big reveal…after much deliberation I surprised even myself by going for the Nobody jeans from Look Two (yesterday’s post). I have always been really loyal to Jbrand so even before I’d tried them on I was pretty sure which ones would end up coming home with me.

But how wrong I was. Typical of jbrand, the Aiden‘s were super soft with plenty of their signature stretch in them. The wash was perfect too. I definitely wanted a lighter, worn in look more than a smarter, darker denim.

But…after having almost dismissed the Nobody’s without even trying, these completely took me by surprise and came up trumps. They are 100% heavy duty denim with no stretch whatsoever. The best thing about this is that there is no sagging. They get better the more you wear them because they’re designed to fade over time.

Apart from the overall look of them, the pockets were larger and made the slouch a lot more flattering. The smaller pockets on the Jbrand Aiden’s made my backside look bigger!

I’m not exactly a shorty at 5’7 but I do have slightly, disproportionately short legs so I needed to give an extra roll on all the pairs to make sure I got a proper bit of ankle showing. I was also given an excellent tip by the stylist: Always make sure the waistband is exposed. Or you may be in danger of looking more mumsy than boyfriend…apparently!

This actually made a huge difference to look of every outfit. Having the top loose around the waist gave way too much bulk to this area.

Having chosen these Nobody jeans, I’m definitely considering the white jbrands for the Summer…they were lovely!

They look great on you. They were my preference on you yesterday but I thought you might think them too grungy! I too have tried loads of boyfriends….nada……I’ve just ordered from Hush & after reading this post I’m glad I had ordered my size & the next up, fingers crossed. Happy Easter, Vikki, xxx

Thanks Vikki. I think they looked grungy because of the biker jacket but amazing how paired with something completely different they have a different look altogether. The Hush ones are meant to be amazing, good luck! L x

Ooh – thanks for the tip about the waistband. I think you and Donna Ida are right, it does help with balancing out proportions as I am another one with short leg’itis.

And it will be interesting to see how many future posts the boyfriend jeans will turn up in – you will either be a total convert and love them too much to take them off or you will gradually slink for cover back to the old skinnys.

Such a great tip isn’t it?! I think that may have been where I was always going wrong, they just always looked a bit frumpy. I’ve worn them a lot but whether they’ll take over from my beloved skinnies remains to be seen!
